Twelve years ago the children's choirs of the Salzburg Festival and the Salzburg State Theater merged to become the Salzburg Festival and Theater Children's Choir.
Now under the direction of Wolfgang Götz the choir offers children and young people all-year training in singing and music.
The choir sings in major concert and opera productions at the festival and in the state theater as well as other performance opportunities.
In addition to 54 performances this year between May and August, the young singers take part in opera camps as the festival opens up new spaces for artistic and social interaction to encourage young people over the coming decades.
The children's choir currently comprises around 200 young singers aged 6 to 16 from Austria and Germany from which choir groups are put together for individual projects.
