Laureate (1st Prize) of the Alberto Lysy International Violin Competition 2022

In 1977 Sir Yehudi Menuhin created the International Menuhin Music Academy where the young Ukrainian Oleg Kaskiv, who had arrived in Switzerland from Lviv, was trained. In 2001 he became one of the brilliant winners of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition. His attachment to the Menuhin tradition led him to return to Crolle as a teacher, where he prepared future great violin talents. It is with great pleasure and emotion that the Thursdays of the Auditorium welcome two of his students. Bohdan Luts, born in 2004 in Lviv, has won numerous international prizes including, in 2022, the 1st Prize of the Carl Nielsen Competition in Denmark. Theodor Kaskiv, born in 2006, began studying the violin with his father at the age of four and is already a laureate of the Arthur Grumiaux International Competition in Brussels. Accompanied by Dmytro Sukhovienko, a virtuoso pianist with an international career.

Ce brillant pianiste de 23 ans, diplômé du CNSM de Lyon, participait, l’année dernière à la tournée « Un été en France » de Gautier Capuçon qu’il a vraiment « impressionné par son jeu pianistique et sa maturité musicale » et qui l’a parrainé auprès de sa maison de disque Warner Classic - pour enregistrer son premier CD, paru le 17 juin dernier chez Erato.

 J’ai choisi Chopin, Debussy et Ravel parce que j’ai une infinie admiration pour ces compositeurs depuis que je suis tout petit. De plus on sait que Debussy et Ravel aimaient par-dessus tout la Barcarole de chopin qui est une pièce extraordinaire, pour moi la plus amoureuse du répertoire. Et ces trois compositeurs ont poussé le piano jusqu’au bout, dans toutes ses couleurs, ses raffinements et ses textures.”
